| A need for speed means a serious sound system
to keep pace. |
 |
 |
Within the midship cabin, we fabricated a large vinyl covered
panel that serves to mount the AM/FM/CD player and 10-disc changer.
This panel replaces the original, small plastic access panel
behind the drivers console. |
 |
The Sony AM/FM/CD player provides XM Radio and changer controls.
This source unit also features a provision for hardwire remotes.
The 10-disc changer contains an electronic buffer which offers
resistance to skipping
ideal for a speedy sport boat. Plus,
the changer plays MP3! |
 |
At the helm, we installed a white hardwired remote
control just left of the steering wheel. To the left of the
four gauges, we installed a white XM satellite radio
antenna. |
 |
A second remote was installed on the transom just above the
swim deck. |
 |
Within the starboard seat in the cabin, we installed a JL
Audio four-channel amplifier and XM Radio tuner. |
 |
While the front outputs of the CD player powers two bow speakers,
the rear preout drives the external amplifier. The amplifier
front channels operate four cockpit coaxials high-pass. The
amplifier rear channels bridge mono in the low-pass mode to
drive a subwoofer. The fader functions bow (front) to cockpit
(rear). Power cable was run directly to an auxiliary group 27
marine deep cycle battery which we added on with a Perko battery
switch. |
 |
Two Bazooka marine 6 1/2-inch coaxials in the bow seating.

 |
Port rear cockpit coaxial. |
| The Bazooka coaxials handle a lot of power and
play loud. Features include an aluminum dome tweeter, 2nd order
crossover network, poly midrange cone, rubber surround, sealed
pole, synthetic gasket, insulated tinsel leads, powder-coated
basket, gold-plated terminals and encapsulated magnet. Bazooka
coaxials require a larger than normal mounting hole due to the
wide frame and oversized cone. The extra surface area yields
greater output levels. |
 |
Under the skippers bolster chair, we installed a Bazooka
8-inch marine subwoofer using a white polymer bridge and two
aluminum mounting rings. A gold-plated banana jack, white cable
and watertight gland for the combing wire penetration make for
a neat wire run. |
|
Six coaxials, a bass reflex subwoofer, a four-channel amplifier,
XM Radio, MP3/CD changer with shock protection, two remote
controls, a second battery and all to marine standards.
All cut-outs receive a radius gelcoat edge and a poly sealant
dressing to permanently guard against blistering or spider
cracks. We treat every boat like a million dollar yacht.
