This Four Winns 30 ft. sport cruiser got the deluxe treatment
inside and out!
THE CABIN AUDIO/VIDEO
SYSTEM
Concealed behind this rolling door within a gallery cabinet,
we installed a 15-inch LCD and DVD player.
With the door open and the LCD at rest in the back of the
cabinet. We fabricated a black laminated structure to consume
all wiring, evelope a flush-mounted DVD player and provide
a mount for the LCD TV.
An articulating and swiveling mount allows the LCD to extend
from the depth of the cabinet so that it may be directed at
either the v-berth sleeper or the salon.
Aimed at the sleeper and allowing the curtain to close.
Aimed at the salon.
The Sea Watch UHF/VHF amplifier and gain control is located
to the rear of the cabinet.
We upgraded the CD player to a Sony MP3 player with electronic
shock (chop) protection. The source unit also has a direct
auxiliary input to receive theater sound from the DVD or satellite
TV via the LCD source selection.
We installed a ten-disc changer just to the right of the
source unit. The source unit fader selects from front/cabin
to rear/cockpit. The source unit has provisions for exterior
hardwired remote controls and also has an infrared remote
for cabin use.
Just inside the cabin door and over the staircase, we installed
a pre-level dual amp balancer. This control fades and blends
between the radar arch speakers and all of the cockpit speakers
while maintaining a constant bass level.
The Alpine V-Power two-channel amplifier drives the four cabin
speakers.
Two Alpine 6 1/2-inch coaxials over the salon.
Behind the cloth-covered panels, we installed a second pair
of Alpine 6 1/2-inch coaxials in the v-berth. All audio and
video components including the stereo system are controllable
by remote control while kicked back in the v-berth.
THE COCKPIT INSTALLATION
While installed in a protected locker in the cabin, this Alpine
V-12 powerful five-channel amplifier operates all of the cockpit
speakers including two subwoofers, four flush-mount coaxials
and two arch speakers. Heavy gauge DC service is obtained directly
from the house battery bank in the engine compartment.
A Sony remote control at the dash provides full control and
digital confirmation of commands.
A second remote control on the transom puts commands at arms
length away from the swim deck or the aft deck seating group.
Two
MB Quart marine coaxials at the cockpit helm.
Two MB Quart marine coaxials over the aft seating group.
We
installed a Clarion free-air 10-inch subwoofer in the corner
of the aft deck and concealed under the seating. We reinforced
the baffle behind the interior combing which significantly improves
the performance of the woofer.
Within the helm bench console, we installed a down-firing
eight-inch woofer in a waterproof polyurethane enclosure. This
maintains strong and even bass output anywhere on the cockpit.
A downward louvered white grill allows the bass radiation
to vent from the locker interior.
Boston
Acoustics Voyager waterproof speakers are mounted under the
radar arch. The swivel brackets allow their sound to be projected
out over the slip or swim deck plus reversed to flood the bow
deck with sound.
Atop the radar arch a dual mode antenna provides satellite
radio reception skyward and also receives terrestrial repeaters
for reception while under a boathouse metal roof.
We installed a marine Shakespeare UHF/VHF amplified antenna
over the radar arch for local broadcast.
Installation matters. The value of these
entertainment products are certainly enhanced by an installation
performed by those who fully understand boats. It takes knowledge,
planning and caring. The caring shows in the details.
