Living Legend Cigarette Boat

Being one of a limited edition Cigarette, this boat deserves a stereo upgrade design that will maintain the integrity of the original color and texture scheme.  The customer also demanded that it plays very, very loud which means a lot of speakers and power.

Within the cabin, a Sony CD source unit and a Phoenix Gold voltmeter are housed in an aluminum bezel.
To the rear of the source unit behind a hatch is a compartment containing a Sony CD changer and XM satellite radio controller.
The low-silhouette sharksfin XM antenna is mounted atop the bow deck.
On the port side the wired remote control is directly in front of the passenger.  The driver requested this since he prefers the navigator controls the stereo while he operates the boat at over 80 MPH.

At the helm, we doubled up on mid-bass drivers and titanium dome tweeters to raise the dynamic range and power handling to compete with the high-speed wind noise and the massive exhaust of twin performance motors.  The tweeters are rear-loaded and the mid-bass drivers are recessed in the trim rings.  The trim rings are covered in a marine vinyl dyed to match.
Behind the bolster chairs and in front of the rear bench seats are another two pair of MB Quart separates, each flushed into a teardrop shaped trim ring.  Each gunwale contains a sealed enclosure for a 10-inch Boston Acoustics Pro woofer.  The enclosure baffle is padded and upholstered to match.  Notice that all mounting hardware is concealed.  This is achieved by using double-nutted stainless steel bolts and nuts accessible from the gunwale interior via the map pocket openings.
We added an ABS flange to the existing woofer grills to cover the extra wide rim of the cast frame Boston Acoustics woofers.  All grills and flanges throughout were dyed the identical marine white for uniformity.
Two more grills and Boston Acoustics 10-inch Pro woofers are located under the rear bench seat.  These grills actually act as vents for the separately enclosed down-firing woofers.

The rear bench seat woofers are sealed in red polyurethane-coated enclosures. Both the woofers and gold-plated terminal cups face downward. These enclosures are waterproof to 350 degrees. The enclosure is elevated and mounted with aluminum brackets and stainless steel hardware.

Boston Acoustics Pro woofers were ideal for this marine application.  Featuring a heavy butyl rubber surround, a poly cone and a non-corrosive cast frame, the Boston Acoustics are resistant to the harshest elements.  Best of all, the Boston Acoustics operate in a 0.6 cu. ft. enclosure as room for four enclosures was very tight.

Two JL Audio 500/1 subwoofer amps power this system, which run the four Boston Acoustics 10-inch subwoofers.  Two JL Audio 300/2 amps are used to run the eight MB Quart component sets.  This Living Legend is L-O-U-D and clean!

A 200 amp circuit breaker in the engine compartment is connected to one gauge primary wire which supplies the amplifier rack with the necessary current capacity.

A separate system inside the cabin consists of a four-channel amplifier, four 5 1/4 inch component speakers and an 8-inch enclosed subwoofer (not shown).
