We outfitted this sedan bridge with all the amenities of home including a salon surround sound system, a tracking satellite TV antenna, whole boat A/V and controls plus much more.

Atop of the radar arch, we installed a KVH TracVision 4 tracking satellite TV dome antenna, a Shakespeare VHF/UHF saucer antenna and a WAAS global positioning satellite antenna.

The KVH is elevated on a white powder-coated aluminum tower which functions as a reducer. The KVH TracVision picks up 300 channels of satellite TV and 50 channels of satellite radio from anywhere on the lake, even while in motion.

An optional TracNet will allow two-way satellite communication with the internet using the same TracVision 4 dome. Satellite TV can be viewed simultaneous while accessing the internet on your laptop.

Shown is the ship-to-shore antenna outlet on the transom. While under the boathouse, the satellite TV data is procured via a fixed dish antenna mounted at the perimeter of the slip. The RG-59 coax cable was upgraded to RG-6. A diplexer is installed on the boat with a counterpart on the dock so that the satellite TV receiver within the boat can receive the unprocessed antenna signal while sending the satellite TV receiver output to a dock TV. These alternate bandwidths travel in opposing directions on the same coax cable making for a single ship-to-shore connection.

Under the salon’s TV, we installed a DVD/CD/MP3 player and an infrared target in a custom made trimplate.

Within the starboard side couch, next to the TV, we installed the Direct TV satellite receiver. The receiver is totally out of view and controlled by an infrared repeater. The infrared system is also linked to the DVD player via rear panel connection.

Both the satellite TV receiver and DVD are viewable and controlled from the stateroom.

Inside the starboard side AC/DC service panel, we installed four control sets. On the far left is a high-isolation ship-to-shore antenna switch. To its right is the KVH on/off switch with a serial port where we plug in our laptop and program the KVH. Next right is the Shakespeare VHF/UHF antenna gain amplifier and controller. And to the far right are three mini paddle switches. The top switch is on/off for the salon audio system so that the stateroom can have full audio while the salon is shut down. The source unit fader provides full level control between the cabin system and the bridge for isolating the interior and exterior audio. The stateroom also has its own stereo volume control. There are three distinct zones with individual level controls.

The middle switch selects between the CD changer and theater sound on the source unit’s input. The bottom switch selects between the theater sound of either the satellite TV receiver or the DVD player. The TV selects between terrestrial VHF/UHF broadcasts plus digitally modulated satellite TV and DVD via normal channel selection.

A marinized Clarion AM/FM/CD player facilitates waterproof hardwired remote controls. We added a Clarion six-disc changer just under the source unit within this salon cabinet.

We added a wired remote alongside the salon’s port side reclining couch so key volume, mute, source, disc, track and station controls are at your fingertips without having to get up and get into the cabinet. This is a particularly convenient feature since the audio system is now an integral part of the video system.
Three amplifiers (ten total channels) for the stateroom, salon and bridge are completely concealed beneath the bridge staircase.

Starboard and port aft salon ceiling Boston Acoustics NX Series 6 1/2-inch coaxials mounted behind factory provisions.

Starboard and port fore salon Canton two-way mini enclosures on swivel mounts. In silver, these match the TV and the boat’s silver decorator plates plus other silver appointments.

Hidden beside the salon’s reclining couch, we flush-mounted a subwoofer, grill and upholstered panel in the galley cabinet.

The salon’s theater sound system delivers DVD soundtracks with such clarity and intensity that action scenes will actually startle you.

Over the stateroom TV, we installed an infrared target for full control over the DVD and satellite TV receiver located in the salon. The bridge and salon audio systems can be shut down when you retire to the stateroom.

We installed Boston Acoustics FX series oversized coaxials up under the stateroom valances. While these speakers are out of sight, they will absolutely rock the stateroom. The stereo ten-step volume control couldn’t be more accessible. Every audio and video source is available in the stateroom.

On the bridge, we installed a Raymarine 7-inch color chartplotter. To the left of the wheel, a waterproof wired remote provides full audio controls.

We added two additional Clarion marine coaxials and a Clarion marine subwoofer on the bridge.
