This Meridian 411 Sedan received
a KVH TracVision Sat TV antenna for in-motion reception anywhere
on the lake. The salon theater system rivals many home systems.
Plus, the bridge audio got a serious upgrade. |

EXTERIOR
AUDIO SYSTEM |
 |
The helm source unit was upgraded to a
Clarion marine CD player. A hideaway Sirius tuner is displayed
and controlled via the Clarion source. The pre-amp fader adjusts
between the bridge speakers (front) and the peripheral zones
(rear). The two peripheral zones, bow and aft deck speakers,
are independently controlled by the two level controls just
above the Clarion source unit. |
|
|
We installed a Clarion digital control on the aft deck. The
hardwired control pad features full visual confirmation plus
all basic functions including Sirius radio control. |

|
A Clarion waterproof radio frequency remote
control fob allows command from the bow deck.
Seven discrete channels of amplification deliver the necessary
division for independent zone controls. The amplifiers are
concealed under the helm console and are elevated above the
soul of the bridge on polymer pads for protection against
water. |

|

|

|
Starboard
and port separate component speakers replace the factory 6”
X 9” coaxils at the front of the bridge. Component speakers
were selected for the crucial forward locations. We added
Clarion marine coaxils to the radar arch interior at the rear
of the bridge.
|
 |
We installed a Clarion 10-inch marine subwoofer
in the captain’s bench console. Four high-pass speakers (two
components and two coaxils) plus a subwoofer rock the bridge. |

|
We
also upgraded the overhead speakers at the aft deck to Clarion
marine coaxils. |

|
A pair of Boston Acoustics Voyager speakers mounted
on the brow flood the bow deck with sound. |
INTERIOR
AUDIO/VIDEO ENTERTAINMENT |

|
The factory TV was replaced with a high-definition
Sharpvision 26-inch widescreen LCD. The retro-fit looks better
than factory. An optional KVH module provides high-definition
access to all three DirecTV birds. |
| Two satellite TV receivers are concealed
behind the salon LCD. One Sat TV receiver is high-definition
with radio frequency remote control while the second Sat TV
receiver is standard with infrared remote control operation.
Both satellite TV receivers are viewable from all three TV’s
via a digital radio frequency distribution system. The high-def
Sat TV receiver also delivers video to the salon LCD via component
RGB. |

|
Concealed in an overhead cabinet, we installed the KVH control
panel plus twin high-isolation ship-to-shore switches. These
switches allow selection of a multi-LNB dockside Sat TV antenna
when under the boathouse. |

|
Just under the salon LCD, an Alpine CD source,
DVD player and source selector share a custom bezel. |
The source selection switch provides
the audio/video soundtracks from Satellite TV, LCD tuner and
DVD. The hideaway source selection outputs to the Alpine’s
changer input, which has been converted to a universal auxiliary
input. The Alpine source unit features front to rear prelevel
fade plus a dedicated sub level control.
A concealed Sirius satellite radio tuner is displayed and
controlled via the Alpine control panel. The Alpine also includes
a full-featured IR remote control. |

|
Under a salon couch, a JL Audio six-channel amplifier
powers the salon’s five satellite speakers and twin subwoofers. |

|
A custom grill under the salon LCD conceals a
Canton center channel speaker. The Canton A/V speaker features
dual mid/bass drivers and a tweeter. |

|
Just to the left a separate control provides
level adjustment over the center channel speaker. |
 Port
and starboard Canton speakers deliver the front channels. |

|
A second pair of Cantons provide the salon with rear fill. |

|
 |

|
Concealed
under the port and starboard couches, separate Polk MOMO 8-inch
subwoofers generate the low frequencies equally throughout
the salon.
The articulation, smoothness and impact of this theater system
in the confined environment of a salon is amazing! |

|
Infrared targets over the TVs in the master stateroom and
midship cabin allow control of the centrally located Sat TV
receiver. If one Sat TV receiver is already in use in the
one cabin then the alternate Sat TV receiver can be selected
and controlled from the other cabin. In this centralized distribution
scheme, two Sat TV receivers can serve multiple cabins. A
combination of IR and RF remotes allow independent and interference-free
control.
