A 6.8 color LCD screen is mounted on the helm console.
The monitor contains a small speaker and volume control. Contrast,
tint and other visual settings are variable. A night/day switch
provides selectable brightness. A visor assists viewing in
bright conditions.
This is a dual-source monitor, which allows for a second
engine compartment camera or a composite input from an audio/video
entertainment source. Additional switching can be added for
multiple cameras.
Typically the screen is located on the same side of the console
as the open bridge or transom door. The captain can then get
both views with a minimum rotation.
When space permits, LCD screens can be flush-mounted also.
