This
Sport Yacht has some unique amenities. Like a rotating mirrored disco
ball with full multi-color lights. Or, a trio of horns that are louder
than a freight train. There’s cool video and audio too.
| |
DISCO BALL |
Suspended from the center of the cockpit a mirrored
disco ball rotates reflecting an array of multi-color LEDs. |
| |
When not in use the disco ball easily detaches leaving
the DC motor. The motor and all lights are mounted to a common white
acrylic panel making this a fully reversable procedure. |
| |

An
array of different colored LED fixtures surround the ball. As the
ball rotates so rotates the multi-color pattern throughout the cockpit.
Plus, this system has the disco bass to match. |

MASTER BLASTER |

Three
pneumatic horns tuned at different frequencies are incredibly loud.
We installed a pump and tank in the engine compartment with air lines
running up to the hardtop.

A
KVH TracVision is elevated with our custom aluminum tower featuring
a kidney-shaped base to perfectly fit the rear of 420 and 44 Sundancer
hardtops. KVH brings the hip hop countdown or ESPN anywhere on the
water.
| |
A polymer access plate was added underneath to facilitate
the KVH mounting.
We also installed a dockside antenna and ship-to-shore switching
for DirecTV service while under the boathouse. |

We
installed a 20-inch LCD TV on the port side arch. The picture is viewable
from every seat in the cockpit.
| |
The LCD is well behind the depth of the sink console
below. |
| |
A quick-release bracket allows EZ removal and reinstallation.
The power cable and coax run through to an aluminum mount. We have
multiple brackets, ie: straight, horizontal angles, vertical angles
and compound angles. This particular model is a compound angle to
compensate for the inward arch lean and to rotate the LCD screen slightly
toward the rear of the cockpit. |

COCKPIT AUDIO |

Factory CD receiver and changer in salon AC/DC service
panel. |
| |

Concealed within an overhead salon cabinet we fabricated
a white laminated enclosure to house a number of new components. An
equalizer and two line-level controllers combine for a 5-way zone
control, ie: cockpit, external, sub, bow and transom speakers. A source
selector switch, DC receptacle and minijack provide full iPod support.
We also added a ship KVH to shore dish antenna switch.

marine two-way speakers.

Upgraded arch speakers.
| |
We added a third pair of cockpit speakers to the rear
cockpit. This addition is essential for balanced output throughout
the cockpit. Factory doesn’t provide rear speakers on the 420
and 44 dancers. A custom polymer kit recesses the rear starboard speaker
into the combing so that the deck clears as it is motorized to gain
access to the engine compartment.
| |

A downfiring 10-inch subwoofer was installed in the
console that wraps around the captain’s chair and supports the
helm bench seat. The space is shared by the cockpit air conditioning
unit. A custom slotted white polymer vent allows the bass radiation
to flow freely from within the console.
| |

Three louvered grills in the rear cockpit bench console
provide enough surface area to vent the output of two downfiring 10-inch
subwoofers.
The three Boston Acoustics G2 10-inch woofers are impressive. And,
the bass is seamless anywhere on the cockpit. |
| |

Bow rail speakers project back towards the bow deck
pads. MB Quart marine coaxils are loaded into white powdercoated spun
aluminum bullet-shaped pods. Polymer adapters and polymer clamshell
brackets mount the pods to the bow rails. Watertight stainless steel
two-conductor connectors make the hull penetration. White cable is
used for the exposed run.
| |

Another
set of MB Quart speakers in white pods project out over the
transom. White polymer adapters are contoured to the hardtop interior
arc and also correct for the downward angle. |
| |
When
in the party mode, one pair of speakers per bow and transom
was not enough for this captain. So, we doubled up on the bow
rail speakers and amplification. |
| |

| Plus, we added four WetSounds
pods from under the hardtop to project out over the swim
platform. And, we upgraded power to a large Boston Acoustics
two-channel amp to drive the WetSounds.

From
bow to cockpit to transom, this boat is L.O.U.D. everywhere! |
LIGHTING |
White polymer bezels conceal LED fixtures used to
illuminate the first step out on the gunwale walk. Red diodes are
used on the port, while green diodes light the starboard side.

Here is another version of a full Sea Ray 420 Sundancer system.

Sharp Aquos high–def 20-inch widescreen LCD TV with digital tuner receives local digital broadcasts. Digital modulation also allows cockpit viewing of satellite TV and DVD. |
| |
Concealed satellite TV receiver is controlled via a radio frequency remote control allowing operation from anywhere in or on the boat. |
SALON SURROUND SOUND |
Within a salon overhead cabinet we installed the relocated CD changer. We also added three salon audio controls on a common panel. A volume control serves to blend in the forward center channel speaker. A second pre-level controller provides adjustment for the salon subwoofers. A remote turn on/off switch allows the salon system to be defeated while leaving the stateroom speakers operational. |
| |
A Boston Acoustics 6 1/2-inch coaxil serves as the front overhead center channel speaker. The factory grill was replaced with a cloth that is more acoustically transparent |

Pair of rear fill Canton speakers. |
| |
Dual louvered vents under couch allows bass radiation to flow from twin concealed 8-inch subwoofers. |
STATEROOM AUDIO |
A pair of Boston Acoustics coaxils replaced the factory. We also replaced the factory grill cloth. |
| |
A concealed volume control provides local control and also allows the stateroom speakers to be turned off. |
COCKPIT AUDIO |
Within the AC DC service panel we moved the CD changer out to an alternate location and replaced it with an exterior audio control panel. Placing the zone controls next to the source unit conveniently collects all controls. We also added a radio frequency remote control to the factory Clarion CD source unit and added an iPod station at the helm. |
| |
A three-way rocker switch toggles between three sources; satellite TV, iPod and salon TV output. The switch controls a hide-away electronic switcher that delivers the various sources to the CD source unit’s auxiliary input.
An equalizer functions as a six times 7-volt line amp that drives ten channels of amplification producing the required dynamic headroom. The EQ also provides a triple zone control; cockpit, subwoofer and external to cockpit. Two additional controls book ending the EQ split the external zone into separate bow deck and swim deck areas. |
| |

| Six MB Quart marine coaxils are evenly distributed throughout the cockpit. Multiple high-pass amplifier channels allow us to gain the system for even and seamless output. We added new locations at the cockpit rear. The starboard AFT speaker is recessed with a custom polymer trim ring and adapter plate for a totally flush installation to clear the motorized engine hatch.
| |
A 10-inch subwoofer is added under the helm bench seat console. The polyurethane enclosure is waterproof. A polymer grill and interior louver allows the bass radiation to freely vent while blocking the view to the console’s interior. |
| |
A pair of MB Quart in white Bullet pods project out over the swim platform. |
| |
A pair of bow rail speakers flood the bow deck pads. |
MARINE INSTRUMENTATION |
| |
We also installed a full instrumentation package. |
