The current version of the BMW 745i is by BMW’s
own admission one of the most complicated autos to work on
and integrate into. When this owner wanted an audio/video/gaming
system installed, BMW recommended only one shop in Dallas
to do the job, Earmark Car Audio. |
 |
The first challenge was installing monitors for the headrests
that are too thin, too curved, too small, and also motorized.
Earmark technician’s handcrafted mounting bezels that
addressed each of these obstacles for a perfect look and fit. |
 |
The
widescreen Alpine monitors are a favorite because of their superior
resolution. |
 |
The next question was where to put the DVD player. Under
the seat or in the trunk was not an option due to the age
of the children and the convenience requirements of the parents.
This left only the center console.
Disassembly of the 745’s center console is not for
the faint of heart or uninitiated. The part of the BMW manual
that details the disassembly and removal of the 745’s
center console is over twenty pages long. The removal and
reinstallation of the center console takes many hours.
The center console was removed and the DVD and switching
panel were installed leaving the most amount of storage space
possible. |
 |
The
rear passengers can bring along their home video game and conveniently
plug into the rear of the center console. Included is a 120
volt AC outlet and stereo/video input jacks. We installed a
concealed DC to AC inverter for electronic games such as Playstation
2 or X-BOX. Dual source monitor switching and individual dual
source wireless headphones allow independent entertainment.
Noise canceling headphones allow three distinct audio zones
in total isolation. |
