Flip-down overhead monitors are available from 6.8-inches
up to 15-inch models. When required, a color-matched vehicle-specific
overhead console houses the LCD monitor and provides for
the dome light and rear seat air conditioning controls.
Some overhead models contain a built-in DVD player.
Other options include an infrared target and repeater
for remote control of a separate DVD or other video sources,
an infrared transmitter for wireless headphones, a VHF/UHF
tuner, an FM modulator for injecting theater sound into
your existing stereo, and a composite port for electronic
games or other portable video sources. Some overhead models
include as many as five built-in electronic games plus
a game controller.
An overhead monitor is often used in conjunction with
dual headrest monitors. While the headrest monitors are
ideal for rear seat passengers the overhead monitor provides
a great view for third row seat passengers.
